Dallas After Midnight

En lieu of anything remotely resembling serious posting, here's another old hippy, Ray Wylie Hubbard. Remember him? All very dance at the pyramids with the Dead.

Nice, but for goodness sake, Oak Cliff Ray, time for a shower and haircut, eh? Reeking hippies aside, maybe Ray tells it like it is. Your call.

Be careful out there Kids,

Dallas On The Skids

What's it like in Dallas, you know, before midnight? It has skaters, so important to keep fit

It has shopping too

And affordable housing

Sometimes shopping and housing come together in a kind of ne'er do well, corrupt symphony

And there you have it,

Juke Box Requests

Yes, we play requests. Like the awesome Headless Thompson Gunner or "Wanna Rock 'n Roll" by Ray Wylie Hubbard. He may be an appalling old hippy, but he's our hippy.

Then there's Thomist Bluegrass. Thanks, RHT.

Whoa, Kid, Tommy can play guitar, no doubt about it.

And let's not forget the Dead. Because awesome. Thanks, Infidel.

Just a short selection of great songs, sent in by you, the reader. Keep 'em coming and off we'll go, to the Moon.

Your Pal,

Dallas After Midnight

Or, more accurately, 0600. And one of the benefits of that is being able to see the city's skyline from Hampton as you drive KPH to SW Medical for a checkup.

I like the view as much as I dislike the morning rush hour, as the people head off to cubicle space.

But is Vladimir Putin the new Constantine?

You be the judge,

Open Carry Texas

Now that Demoncrat Wendy's been trashed at the polls, Greg Abbott's stepped up to the plate and announced he'll sign-off on an open carry bill as soon as it hits his desk. What! You're thinking, Texas isn't an open carry state? Not really, you can carry rifles but not handguns. That looks set to change.

And it's not just men, a lot of women support open carry. After all, who knows what you might meet.

At Target.

The diner.

Or even San Antonio.

Let's leave Austin out of this, but I reckon being armed would be useful there too.

Well done, Greg. Let's see that bill.

Dallas Almost After Midnight

So what's it like, LSP, spending an evening in America's viral hotzone? Well I'll tell you. There weren't many people about for a Friday night in Bishop Arts. But there were some and one of them sneezed, loudly.

This caused Crystal, who waits tables and has a gold nose ring (real gold, mind you) to say, "Oh. Thanks for your Ebola!" The sneezer turned back to his Lone Star, appropriately chastened.

No Protocols Whatsoever

Also, the youngest of the LSP sisters raised an eyebrow when someone threw up onto the sidewalk from the front patio of the Oak Cliff Social Club. No protocols in place there, then.

Bolsa Was Empty

So we fell back to Bolsa, where it's safe, and found it empty. No one was driving south of the river from North Dallas, apparently, and maybe that's a good thing for the south. Self-quarantine.

But look here Dallas, and America. There's nothing to worry about because our President has told us that Ebola is "actually a difficult disease to catch," and that "we know how to fight this disease. We know the protocols."

Nothing To Worry About

I guess that's why a man from Liberia died in Dallas, three schools are shut down, two nurses are infected with the virus and God alone knows how many people have been exposed to this thing through sheer, mind-bending, deadly, incompetence.

On the positive side of the ledger, I was invited to a friend's ranch in West Texas for some long distance shooting and hunting. Off Mesas, thank you very much, and Lapua Magnum take the hindmost.

Cheers,

LSP

St. Michael & All Angels

It's the Feast of St. Michael and All Angels today, which puts me in mind of this:

“And there was war in heaven, Michael and his angels waging war with the dragon. The dragon and his angels waged war, and they were not strong enough, and there was no longer a place found for them in heaven. And the great dragon was thrown down, the serpent of old who is called the devil and Satan, who deceives the whole world; he was thrown down to the earth, and his angels were thrown down with him.”

Unh Hunh.

St. John the "Revelator" goes on to say:

“For this reason, rejoice, O heavens and you who dwell in them. Woe to the earth and the sea, because the devil has come down to you, having great wrath, knowing that he has only a short time.”

Having great wrath. Ain't that the truth.

St. Michael the Archangel, defend us in the day of battle.

God bless,
